The Engineering Technologist performs the following:

* Plans installation phase of projects. Creates installation plan document to track progress and status. Performs site surveys, customer meetings, and internal design reviews.
* Prepares installation crews for execution of installation phase of projects to include selecting employees and subs. Writes SOWs, establishes relationships with subs, collects bids, and selects subs.
* Assists in development of cost proposals. Responsible for identifying installation tasking and associated hours, labor categories, tools and travel requirements.
* Oversees installation phases of projects. Uses installation plan document to track progress, review photos, overcome obstacles, record impacts incurred, and report progress to customer and Project Manager. Leads technical installation and logistical troubleshooting efforts on electronic systems.
* Conducts post-project meetings with personnel to review successes and failures to include improvement opportunities, lessons learned, processes, training needs, etc.
* Conducts studies with design, production, integration, operation, maintenance and test of systems, equipment and components. Analyzes and provides inputs to review boards. Prepares and presents original concepts for above.
* Conducts studies and analyses of technical documentation to determine conformance with performance, operational, maintenance and training documentation and specifications. Provides coordinated impact reports of issues relative to above family of documentation. Provides resolution of issues.
* Analyzes test plans to assure technical and operational requirements are demonstrated. Participates in test conduct and data gathering and analysis. Assembles test packages and conducts package review. Prepares recommendations and corrective action requirements reports.
* Participates in development of system trials, observes system operation, and describes problems. Prepares recommendations for acceptance, failure and retest. Participates on test evaluation review boards. Provides recommendations on process improvement and resource savings.
* Participates in review of engineering change proposals, trouble and failure and corrective action reports, and provides recommendation. Assists engineering change review boards.
* Provides independent recommendations for task expansion, efficiency, and performance improvement. Prepares cost impact assessments. Maintains customer contact.
* Assists in proposal preparation. Assists in strategy development.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This position is located in scenic and historic Charleston, SC. There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Willingness to relocate one's self is required and is required to be clearly stated in resume to be considered.

Requirements:

*

Ability to acquire and maintain U.S. government security clearance and/or Common Access Card (CAC) should it be required by the position.

*

Ability to acquire and maintain corporate credit card should it be required by the position.

*

50-75% travel

Associates degree in engineering technology from accredited institution with 7 years experience in electronic engineering technology based design and installation projects or high school diploma with 9 years experience.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to stay organized, manage occupational pressure and balance multiple projects? tasking concurrently.

Preferences:

*

5 years experience in preparation (including technical writing and drafting, development, revision, and editing) of technical publications relating to operation, maintenance, and installation of electrical, electronic and/or mechanical equipment; technical publications includes engineering design documentation, test plans and procedures, technical specifications and reports.

* 5 years experience with government drawing standards and practices.
* Experience with engineering economic concepts.
* Working knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) in reference to running conduit, properly distributing 120VAC power, keeping high and low-voltage conductors separate and general electrical safety.
* 3 years experience with installing and designing CCTV systems including analog video cameras and Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) including commissioning DVRs, calibrating frame rates, resolution, recording schedules, safe shutdown via UPS software, camera names and client software.
* Demonstration of knowledge with physical security concepts involving Access Control Systems (ACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Systems.
* Demonstration of ability to lead crews to complete quality installations of IDS, ACS and CCTV systems.
* Demonstration to learn security software suites such as AMAG and LENEL.
* Demonstration of knowledge of LANs including installing, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintaining.
* Experience training end users, Technicians and government customers on functionality and use of security systems, including IDS, CCTV and AACS.
