Job Description
AFL is an industry leader in providing fiber optic products, engineering expertise and integrated services to the telecommunications industry. We have an immediate opening for a Splicer Repair Technician. The primary purpose of this position is to test, diagnose and repair electro-mechanical equipment in a high volume repair environment in support of after-sale service.
The ideal candidate will have electronics training and repair experience in a production or service environment, a strong mechanical aptitude, and experience interfacing directly with customers. Candidates with mechanical training, experience and strong logical troubleshooting aptitude may be considered.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Test, diagnose and repair electro-mechanical fusion splicing equipment in a bench-repair environment
* Provide technical support to customers, sales agents and internal customers
* Perform quality control checks on new equipment prior to shipment to customers
* Build customer relationships and loyalty through direct customer service support
* Provide fast and dependable repair service and support
* Actively engage in continuous improvement processes and activities
Skills/Requirements
* Associate degree in an electronic or mechanical discipline or equivalent training and experience
* 1 - 5 years work experience in the electronic or mechanical fields
* 1 year minimum in a bench repair environment
* Strong desire and ability to learn and retain technical information
* Logical troubleshooting ability
* General computer operation experience
* General understanding of hand tools and uses
