Job Description
Hubbell Lighting, Inc., a leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of commercial, industrial and residential lighting currently has an opening on their Engineering staff for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer.
Position Overview:
The Electrical Design Engineer designs new products and make improvements to existing lighting products with various light sources, including: incandescent, fluorescent and LED. **Provides Electrical engineering support to multiple New Product Development (NPD) and Value Engineering Analysis (VEA) teams. **Responsible for research and development of new electronic technologies such as LED drivers, high power LEDS, switching power supply technology and battery technology. **Experience developing products using off-shore manufacturing partners to aid in product design efforts. Experience using Design for Lean Six Sigma, Quality Functional Deployment, and Failure Effect Mode Analysis tools during New Product Development Process. **Ability to lead New Product Development (NPD) teams to deliver new products per established parameters, including performance, budget and schedule. **Designs and evaluates products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability. Works with marketing, engineering, sourcing, and the production staff at various facilities to ensure that all projects meet internal and external customer requirements, including performance, schedule and budget. **Requests and evaluates testing (thermal, photometric, rain, dust) as needed for third party certification (UL, CSA, etc.). **Designs experience with embedded systems using 8-bit microcontrollers. **Analog and power design experience should include experience designing inverters, power supplies, battery chargers and transformers.

Requirements
**B.S. Electrical Engineering degree required; MSEE a plus. **Minimum of 5 years experience in engineering, preferably in lighting or other electro-mechanical consumer goods. **Must be computer literate. Proficiency in various CAD packages including AutoCAD and Solid Edge is a plus but not required, Microsoft Office package (especially Excel and Access) a plus. **Experience with circuit simulation software such as PSpice is desirable. **Proficient in the use of Schematic Capture and PCB layout software. **Strong organizational skills. **Strong oral and written communication skills. **Strong decision making and problem solving skills. **Conceptual design creativity a plus.
Additional Information:
Travel occasionally required, mostly within North America, but can include travel to Asia or other foreign locales. Low volume, high mix manufacturing experience a plus. Utilize SAP business software, including bill of material creation and variant configurator input for modular bills of material management.
