POSITION SUMMARY: Provide leadership for managing the people, processes and technology comprising the following functions for Bob Jones University: General Accounting, Cost Accounting, Financial Reporting, Audits, Tax, Financial Planning and Analysis, et al.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Accounting

* Build and manage the chart of accounts
* Manage processing of transactions into general and subsidiary ledgers
* Account reconciliation and analysis
* Investment accounting
* Financial statement preparation including footnotes
* Combination accounting as required including inter-company transactions and eliminations

Cost Accounting

* Manage cost center and line-of-business allocations
* Provide financial consulting and strategic support to senior management including financial presentations
* Capital expenditure analysis
* Financial feasibility analysis
* Industry/peer group comparisons

Financial Reporting

* Manage external financial reporting related to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting principles required by the higher education industry.
* Manage internal financial reporting related to management needs as required

Financial Planning & Analysis

* Manage preparation of the enrollment forecast, operating and capital budgets as well as short- and long-term forecasts.
* Monitor and report performance against plan
* Analyze and report key performance indicators and benchmark data

Additional Responsibilities:

* Manage external financial audits and periodic special accounting or attest engagements
* Manage tax functions (accounting, analysis, reporting and compliance) at all government levels and regardless of tax-type (income, property, occupational, et al.) where applicable
* Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish BJU's financial goals and objectives
* Serve on planning and policy-making committees as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles
* Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
* Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations including tax
* Professional in appearance and presentation
* Effective in oral and written communication
* Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and programs based on multidimensional datasets
* Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
* Working knowledge of short- and long-term forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis
* Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
* Bachelor's Degree
* Five or more years related experience
